My Sweet Tooth: Levain Bakery
In order to outlast a New York winter, I need three things: a snug coat, DVR, and fresh-from-the-oven Levain cookies.
Even though I consider myself a bit of a baker, I will put down my spatula, swipe my Metrocard and battle the cold to transport to this Upper West Side factory of happiness. The long (but totally deserved) lines and heavy snow cannot deter me – I am like the Ernest Shackleton of cookie expeditions.
And this cookie – let me tell you. If you, like me, have a perfectly unhealthy relationship with chocolate, these chocolate chocolate chip cookies are ooey gooey pillows of perfection. It’s a brownie in the form of a cookie in the form of an edible happy place.
So yes, New York can get tough in the winter, but these cookies make it a little warmer and a lot sweeter.
Note: They’re available online if you’re not in New York but if you are, it’s worth the adventure.
