Somewhere Only We Know
The rooftops of New York are a world of their own. They’re where city dwellers take refuge from the crowded streets because if you’re looking for space in NYC, there’s nowhere to go but up.
A similar haven exists in downtown LA if you go searching for it. My friend Ally is a devoted downtowner and in exchange for her many trips to the coast I made my way to her apartment to catch a California sunset. We had a late night birthday party ahead of us so I abandoned my summer bright for a suede fringe Alice & Olivia skirt and silk printed halter. This outfit could easily transition to colder weather with a light sweater or bomber jacket but thankfully we aren’t there quite yet. I did love how the fringe swayed, especially in the breeze on the roof.
Watching the sun melt into the skyline reminded me of my East Coast home and the slight chill in the air reminded me we are all holding fast to the hot days of August. I love fall fashion but I’m not ready to abandon my hemlines or bare shoulders just yet.
Thank goodness up above the sun is still shining on summer.
