How To Succeed in Jumpsuits Without Really Trying

I used to think jumpsuits were for the exceptionally tall or the exceptionally fashion forward. These days they’re such a staple in my wardrobe I’m not sure how I ever lived without them. The beauty of jumpsuits and rompers is how versatile they can be, from cotton to silk, fitted to loose, and how easily they transition from day to night. Here’s a look at three of my current favorite jumpsuits and how, with just the right accessories, you can make them look exceptional.

Those Summer Nights

This is the perfect jumpsuit for day to night chic. With just a pair of strappy white heels, this blush cut shows the right amount of skin and sex appeal without revealing too much. Start your day in the workplace by complimenting this one with a cropped, bolero style blazer that keeps this suit looking young and fresh. And a neutral fringe clutch brings just a little edge to this sophisticated color palette.

She Means Business

Maybe it’s the New Yorker in me but I love a good pinstripe. A full pinstripe suit is a little too formal for myself, but on this sleeveless jumpsuit it just feels like summertime. The fun cutout back gives it a little more edge for nighttime. For a pop of color, I like pairing this with a pastel blazer that has a formal look to match the feeling of a business suit. Accessories are key here in taking this outfit from the boardroom to the bar so I opt for a textured shoe and clutch to give this just the right amount of edge.

Day Tripping

When I first saw this jumpsuit I had ambitions of wine tasting in the Napa Valley on a breezy summer day. That may not have had anything to do with this particular outfit, per se, but it was a great thought and that was enough to inspire me. Love this look for a fully daytime affair – throw a light cardigan over your shoulders, a low pair of nude heels, a bold clutch and you’re good to go. Oh and a glass of chardonnay looks good with any outfit, too.
