Dance Your Heart Out

In another life, if I wasn’t an ice skater, I was a dancer. Obviously the two overlap a lot (dancing was a huge part of my training) and I am so grateful that through So You Think You Can Dance I’ve been able to have the dancing community in my life.

Even better is when dance gives back to the community. And that’s exactly why Nigel Lythgoe and Adam Shankman created the Dizzy Feet Foundation – to help support and improve the availability of dance education throughout the United States. I was so excited to attend their annual gala on Saturday night at the Nokia Theater and boogie down for this great cause. There were a lot of familiar and beautiful faces in attendance – yes, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum were there. She performed with Travis Wall and reaffirmed what a spectacular dancer she is. Jenna Elfman, who serves on the board, was also there and my fellow pint sized Paula Abdul who is aging in reverse. Paula, teach me everything you know.

Another highlight was introducing the Korean Dance Academy that resulted in a really moving and beautiful performance. At the after party I found myself surrounded by so many talented dancers I couldn’t take my eyes off of the constant dance battles that were happening all around me.

I knew this group would be well dressed so I made sure to look my best in this Alice + Olivia number which sparkled beautifully under the lights. I got these high but comfy Vince Camuto heels to pair with it and hid my Hershey’s bar in this perfectly sized DVF clutch.

It felt good to dance but even better to know we’re working towards giving more people an opportunity to do so. If you’d like to support the Dizzy Feet Foundation, you can donate here or find out other ways to get involved:

Happy dancing y’all!
