Everyone Wins At The ESPYs
The last few days have been such a spectacular whirlwind. It’s great to be back in LA and under such happy circumstances as the EPSYs. There’s something so electric about having all these accomplished athletes in town together. Perhaps it reminds me of something…
My official ESPYing kicked off with a Tuesday night party for the Players’ Tribune, a publication I’m happy to announce I will officially be joining as a contributor. For those of you who aren’t familiar with The Players’ Tribune, it’s the passion project of Derek Jeter that gives athletes a platform to tell their own stories in a way that is truly authentic. I got to meet Derek at the party (such a legend!) as well as Blake Griffin who was an early contributor. I’m really looking forward to working with this fun group – and they certainly know how to throw a party!
After hanging with the Players, my friend Chelsea and I headed to the ESPN Body Issue soirée. The photos on display were amazing. It is really impressive to the see the different muscles and complexities of all different kinds of athletes. Natalie Coughlin and Aly Raisman were a few of my favorite shots. Chelsea and I took advantage of the photo booth but we had to call it an early night before the big event. I’m glad for the extra night of activity though – I got to wear a runner up dress for the ESPYs!
The ESPYs themselves started early for me. I owe you guys a big thanks for helping me narrow down my outfit. The Versace was the clear winner. After some hair and makeup love, I was linked up again with my bestie and pretty date Chelsea to head to the red carpet. It was so hot in the LA sun I think I melted a little bit. Thankfully, my m&m’s made it inside unscathed.
The award ceremony itself was truly inspirational for everyone and if you didn’t get to watch it I recommend checking out some of the highlights (maybe link to the site?). A few memorable moments for me were Devon Still speaking about his daughter Leah’s cancer fight and Caitlyn Jenner speaking up for Trans youth everywhere. And seeing the USA Women’s soccer team be honored was also a highlight – awesome job girls. Way to make us proud!
Mine are angry and currently not speaking to anyone.
