Sun, Sand, Sea.
Sun, Sand, Sea. That’s the motto of Manhattan Beach, one of my favorite day trip destinations. It’s only a 30 minute trip down the coast but where my friends and I love to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon.
Now there’s a lot to be said for Sunday Funday in New York (see you guys in Manhattan in the Fall), but Manhattan Beach is all about enjoying West Coast time for me. It starts with an early dinner, which Chelsea and I enjoyed at Manhattan Beach Post. I love this spot for its communal décor and simple, delicious fare. The menu is always filled with great specials and tons of great veggies to share, but this place is really all about the bacon cheddar buttermilk biscuits. I repeat: bacon cheddar buttermilk biscuits. Honestly, these are so good I meant to take a photo of them and I ate them instead. So yeah, get those.
To end our meal on a sweet note, we stopped at Bonaventura Gelato Lounge before hitting the beach. Try their awesome gelato pops that are coated so the flavor is a surprise.
It was just about sunset that made for a beautiful stroll along the beach and pier with Chelsea and her pup. I wore one of my favorite “lazy Sunday” outfits – a Victoria’s Secret cotton tee (in a bright hue for a little oomph), Paige denim cutoffs, my sun blocking hat, and my trusty Hermes sandals that are some of my favorite flats I’ve ever invested in.
I do miss my Manhattan, but there’s nothing quite like a sunset on Manhattan beach to end the week on a sunny note.
