Life in Technicolor
It has only been a week since Johnny and I returned from Rio but at night I’m still dreaming in neon. From the friends we made, to the sights and sounds, my inaugural trip to South America really was the stuff of dreams.
Now I can’t reveal too much right now about the ‘why’ for our 9-day excursion so you’ll have to settle for a few snapshots and a lot of fashion. Rio was like fireworks to me, full of energy and color. The people we met were some of the most wonderful personalities and really helped us embrace the local culture and feeling. I wanted to reflect that feeling in what I wore, so for me it was all about color and light and movement. Here are a few of my favorite Rio fashion moments:
Nanette Lepore Dress (Spring 2016 Available Soon) and Alaia Shoes (old)
My Trina Turk cover up made me feel like a dancer at Carnival. The color and movement was a perfect way to embrace the Samba.
Nanette Lepore’s new collection is full of bold prints, colors, and ruffled silhouettes. I love peekaboo details, especially on my shoulders. All her clothes have such a feminine ease and sophistication to them but still playful. Every piece made me feel like I was a having a major ‘fashion moment’ when I put them on.
I would’ve been lost without my Eugenia Kim hats. I love the sun but my face stays in the shade. These are functional but make you feel glamorous at the same time.
The heat and humidity could have easily ruined my signature beach waves but thanks to my piece from Halo Couture they stayed in tact.
I can’t wait to share more of this experience with you. What I wore was just a small reflection of the amazing beauty of Rio. From standing at the foot of Christ the Redeemer to a sunset view on top of Sugar Loaf, there is so much I can’t wait to share with you…when the time is right.
Finally, it goes without saying that having Johnny, now known as ‘Mommy,’ by my side for the entire time only heightened the experience. If ever there was a vibrant person in my life who could made Rio that much more colorful, it’s Johnny.
A special thank you to Nanette Lepore, Eugenia Kim and Halo Couture.
